Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has pleaded with residents and motorists plying the Orita Obele Road over its dangerous and deplorable situation.
Speaking on a radio program on Sunshine 96.5 FM, Akure, the state capital, Akeredolu accepted the blame for the dangerous state of the roads.
According to the governor, contractors had deserted the Orita Obele road, which also leads to the government-owned media station, for a lot of months.
The governor added that his administration must be held responsible by residents of the realm for abandoning the roads for more than a year.
“I even thought the road had been completed but I know the rain was part of the problem for the delay and this is not fair at all,” Akeredolu said.
“It is all the time a troublesome process establishing roads in the course of the wet season but the error the contractors made was to start it slowly before it was deserted and when the rain began.
“Yes, I take the blame for the delay within the building of the roads and for not coming right here to examine on them in the event that they had been truly on their duty. I take the duty for it once once more.
“And I want to plead with the people to forgive us. We are going to call on the Ministry of Works to order their people and contact those In charge to start the work and begin to do them slowing for the benefit of the people.”
